Your professional family begins now...
Our organization was established in 1946 to support and promote Osteopathic medicine throughout the great State of Michigan.
Over the years, our name has changed many times and our current name, ADVOCATES for the MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION, was adopted in 2005. Throughout all of the changes, however, our mission has remained the same, to support and promote Osteopathic medicine in Michigan through community outreach, acedemic scholarship, and legislative activity.
Our membership consists of family members of Osteopathic physicians and supporters of the Osteopathic profession.
There is a comprehensive historical museum of our organization on the campus of MSU-COM. The museum showcases the philanthropic works that the AMOA has achieved over the course of our existence. We look forward to sharing this influental collection with you.
We are an affiliate of the Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association.
For those of you new to the AMOA, welcome. We are glad you have found us, and we look forward to sharing this great organization with you. For those of you who are already familiar with the Advocates, welcome back! We know that you are aware of the exceptional work that this organization has done in the past, and can understand what the AMOA can do in the future.
To everyone, the most important part of the AMOA is that we can't do it without you!
Happy New Year Advocates!
2012 is here, and we need to keep up the momentum we started in the fall. The new AMOA website is available, but we continue to make changes. The hope is to create a place that our current members, as well as our potential members, can go for up-to-date Advocates’ information. I am very excited that we have taken this step and look forward to the final product at www.mi-advocates.org
For the first time in my Advocate career, in March, I will be attending the D.O. Day on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. I would love to have more Michigan Advocates join our little caravan out east! Please let me know if you are interested in going.
Although we still have snow on the ground, we are already getting ready for the Annual MOA Convention. The advocates’ annual business meeting takes very little time, but the information is extremely important. This is a great time for you as an Advocate to share your thoughts and ideas for the organization. I look forward to seeing you there!

The Student Advocates Association held our Finals Survival Kits fundraiser again this semester, and we had the biggest turnout yet! We sold 23 kits throughout our three campuses, and brought in over $500.00 for our organization, a big thanks to all of our contributors for helping us raise this money!
We had several companies contribute to our kits, along with donated Starbucks coffee, which we distributed along with homemade baked goods to the first and second year students during their final exams. We had a great time baking these treats, and wishing the students luck on their finals.
We also sold lots of our beautiful rosewood pens with cases at the national convention, and continue to make sales via our email address below. These make great gifts for physicians, students, graduates and residents, if you’re interested please don’t hesitate to contact us, all proceeds benefit the SAA!
